During the course of this module, I have developed various transferable skills that I believe would help me to be successful in my career, such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and so forth. Moreover, I have also learned how to use technology effectively to enhance my learning experience within the discipline area.
Before the course, I had mixed feelings about my abilities to communicate effectively with others, work in a team, and adapt to change. I've struggled with self-motivation in the past, but through this module, I've learned how to set goals for myself and manage my time more effectively. This has had a huge impact on my learning. I've also made significant progress in my communication skills, gaining greater confidence in expressing my thoughts and ideas.
The course was highly effective in helping me develop a wide range of transferable skills. Communication skills were not my strong suit, but the course helped me become more confident and articulate in expressing my thoughts and ideas. The teamwork component of the course helped me become more comfortable working with others and taught me how to communicate with my team members effectively. Also, peer and instructor feedback seemed greatly helpful to identify areas to improve (Biala, 2021). I learned how to adapt to new situations and environments, which has been a great asset to me as I enter the workforce.
I realized that time management was an area where I struggled. However, I was able to use the skills I learned in the course to develop a schedule and create a routine that worked for me. The leadership component of the course helped me to understand my strengths and weaknesses and to develop my skills in this area. I learned how to take responsibility for my team, and how to make effective decisions.
The research and analytical skills component of the course helped me to develop critical thinking skills that I can apply to real-world situations. Finally, the technology component of the course helped me to learn how to use various technologies effectively, which will be very useful in my future career.
Using Gibbs' reflective model helps in identifying the factors that contributed to progress and challenges (Smith, 2021). However, sometimes, I struggle to balance my workload and motivation when faced with challenging material.
The transferable skills I have developed during this course will be highly beneficial for my future aspirations. I have learned how to communicate effectively with others, work collaboratively in teams, adapt to change, manage my time effectively, take leadership roles, make effective decisions, and develop critical thinking skills. The significant progress in adaptability and technical skills will greatly benefit in a rapidly evolving job market (Doyle, 2021). However, I feel that I still need to work on improving my time management skills, which will help me to complete assignments on time and manage my workload effectively. Also, I recognize the need for further development in my critical thinking and workload balance.
To improve my time management skills, I plan to use a planner or calendar to keep track of my schedule, set clear goals for myself, and prioritize my tasks based on importance and urgency. Additionally, I will seek out additional resources, such as time management workshops or courses to further develop this skill. Gibbs' reflective model has been helpful in identifying factors that contributed to progress and challenges faced during the module, allowing for a deeper understanding of the learning process (Wallbridge, 2022).
Also, in order to continue developing my skills, I plan to seek out feedback from my peers and instructors as I believe it's instrumental in my development so far. From my experience, I have traced that I have certain strengths as well as weaknesses. I have explored my attributes and I understood that I have effective decision-making, problem-solving, creativity, and other attributes (Rebele and Pierre, 2019). However, I have poor research ability, communication skills, and time management ability. However, in the current digital era, besides learning from offline tutors in an educational setting, online or digital learning has become prominent. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of digital learning has been witnessed when offline schools were closed (Heidari et al., 2021). However, to opt for digital learning, some skills are crucial, such as research ability and searching from a digital database, time management is crucial to arrange a time for offline classes, making projects, and assignments, and learning from digital sources. Moreover, communication is important to communicate queries through both digital and offline channels. Similarly, the reflection has helped to identify that I lack research, time management, and communication skills, and the PDP shall help me to overcome my loopholes.
