Introduction - Personal Experience in Healthcare and Dementia Care
Healthcare centers are places where people think about their safety that what I am going to talk about in this paper. The assignment is based on “the fundamentals of Health and social care”. Which discussed the role of health care centers, which will include my strategies to become a professional in the services. The paper allowed me to explain my thoughts and views on the profession I am prepared for. This assignment includes the studies of this particular semester that will prove how well I am connecting my profession with it.

Health is the priority of every individual in the world. Health is called the wealth of the human being and all living organisms. Health is viewed in terms of a human being's life where there is any presence or absence of diseases which medically at risk, they are keeping a good life whole is called health (Pickard, 2020). Good health is always reflected in the life and environment of the individual. The term social care is strongly related to health care. Social care involves emotional, social, or physical support to an individual. There are different values for being a professional health and social worker (Hardy et al., 2021). The values which I think are appropriate in this profession and would help an individual to develop are “choice, dignity, inclusion”, “independence, and privacy”, “confidentiality in information”, and “individuality, and identity”. The choice is the everyday decision of an individual and especially in this field, decisions, and choices will be on health care. A person makes their choice if he or thinks that the decision he is taking is appropriate. Dignity is when the treatment offered is good because social caregivers or health personnel should treat every individual with dignity (Rosslee, 2019). The two values I will be taking for my first attempt are firstly dignity and being an inclusive person for treating people with my skills.
To practice such values one should have worked as a social caregiver or in health care. I had the experience to share. My experience talks about the time in 2020 when the world had seen its worst time. That is the COVID-19 pandemic that has shaken the world as a whole. I was given the duty of a social caregiver in health care. The shift allotted was at night in the emergency department with two such senior psychologists. I was allotted to the elder care home. The experience was a life lesson that taught me many such things. In emergency times, in the city at night only white-dressed people care for patients almost dead, panicking, shouting, and screaming to go home. Besides that the older care home with dementia people, where I was allotted. Just imagine if normal people were behaving in such a manner as the condition older people with mental problems like dementia were undergoing. I was on duty with 7 such people with a senior lady worker. I had experienced the mental health of people with dementia who were abusing and shouting at me. The people were crying sometimes they were numb, not eating anything, and trying to run away they were getting angry and trying to abuse others physically. They were in traumas by staying away from their homes, without their close ones. They could not even remember their family members, they were facing memory loss and confusion (Searle and Rice, 2021). The most difficult job was to make them happy and understand what went wrong. Neither the closed one was able to come nor could they see them. I started preparing from that day only. Started with inclusion to reach out to older people even though I was facing so many abusive words and actions from them. I kept in mind that I could not give up. Because the people were recovering slowly with the efforts of the counselor.
The codes of practice that I have chosen are in a healthcare home that maintains certain principles and values that are related and meet their practices. I had gone through all the conditions and faced life with dementia people, who were unable to cognitively, their reflection of morals and behavior, and they enhanced the state of empathy of 7 patients (Slater et al., 2019). A good social care practice follows the principle in the case of dementia people, they had mentioned time as an important element when working with these people, and caregivers are equally responsible for providing them proper care. Changes are required if the old man wants them. The people with dementia were experiencing changes in their emotional responses. The older people were getting restless and unable to focus on things, I learned that their appearance had changed they were typically unable to socialize and they often got impulsive. My experience after working with such people was rewarding as well as challenging. Though I felt bringing joy, my personal growth, and important to people also I felt so much stress, fatigue, frustration, and social isolation because of their abusive nature and how they were shouting at me when they got angry or impulsive. They were forgetting about their friends and family and it was getting more difficult for me to take care of them. Although it was very difficult for me to handle such patients I also learned so many things from them, I learned paying attention and giving care are very important to cure someone. Moreover, communication in dementia is very important it requires a lot of action more than words. They have less control over their feelings for this reason they overreact sometimes, they face rapid mood changes and do terrible things such as physical abuse, shouting, trying to hurt people feeling irritable, and do also unusual things. Although managing them was way more difficult than I thought it was my experience as a social and healthcare worker. The way of caring and treating should involve changes as per the requirement. The feelings and emotions will help them to develop. During COVID-19, the situation was very crucial. Proper immunity was needed to get well. Patients are given drinks that could help them to recover. Helping them to stay hydrated is also a concern being a social worker. I was also very careful at that time because Psychological factors work in the case of dementia people as they feel depressed and tensions work on them. The food they have often lacks the nutrients they require. To help them come out of traumas is to make them feel the way they want, as I tried to do. Feeling motivated and finding people around them also help them to recover faster. Proper hygiene is always required in the areas in the case of older people as they are highly effective towards diseases and they have lower immunity. I had to understand the need to cooperate with them to understand the treatment they wanted. The requirements they are asking for. The COVID-19 situation was the worst for them. The chances of recovery were very minor as all were suffering from mental trauma along with loneliness.
Conclusion
A career in health and social care centers is the noblest job ever. Curing a person from dying is the biggest responsibility. The work of showing your skills and staying within your boundaries and feelings. Getting attached to people emotionally and positively feels established in life. Life becomes worthy of being in the world. Part of this noblest job is the biggest fortune for me. The work of serving people is the work of the disciple of God. The values and experience that are chosen must be followed for the entire profession for the betterment of the people.
