Background
This research will be conducted on the basis of the market share index’s fluctuation and how the factors such as industry and public knowledge influence these fluctuations. Public knowledge and industries influence the performance of share markets. In this study, the case of Nifty 50 and S&P 500 is going to be discussed to prove the influence. In this study a research is going to be proposed for this case so that a proper research can be done on share market index.
Rational
When uncertain times arrive, they resort to either selling their stocks and shares they have while the market is still profitable before the prices dip to recover their value and vice versa. Hence, creating commotion in the market. It is an issue because the share market and the industries get negatively impacted at this point. This happens due to predictions made by the people for the future with the publicly available data. The industries and their performance also affect the share market.
Objectives
Research questions
Public knowledge is the collective share market knowledge of the people that act as investors in the market. Some examples of this can be the knowledge about equities and other securities in the field of investment. There is a significant impact of public knowledge on the share market as it allows people to be able to predict the coming future and act accordingly, this causes disturbance in the usual functioning of the market. The share market performs its best if there is stability in the market (Lahmiri, and Bekiros, 2020). However due to the decision of the people the market keeps getting regulated even if there is not much market instability. Hence this impacts the share markets adversely. Often knowledge about coming economic situations and public policy induces traders and investors to make mass-scale transactions due to panic and insecurity.
Figure 1: Share market crashes in India due to unclear public information
On the contrary, the vice versa is true as well, the lack of knowledge may also lead to a crash in the market as indicated by Figure 1 of the research. These will be elaborated on in more detail in the dissertation.
Such development occurred in 2008 in India when false economic predictions caused a crash in the share market (Ecomomictimes.indiatimes.com, 2020). This is known as a false market and the information put out in the public domain is untrue and not in line with the real-life scenario of the market. There are examples of such cases in the UK as well. This prompted the British government to put market abuse regulations in the form of “The Recognised Auction Platforms (Amendment and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2021” to regulate the market (FCA.org, 2021). This factor is going to be contrasted with other mentioned factors to show its effects on the share market through the use of a case study conserning Nifty 50 and S&P 500 to justify the research.
There are significant impacts of Industrial developments on the stock market (Sciencedirect.com, 2022). The most abrupt volatility spikes occur in vandalism-related incidents, but they quickly stabilise after two days. Volatility related to occurrences brought on by equipment failure typically lasts for approximately a month (Nguyen, and Ha, 2023). Publicly listed corporations suffer $14 million in losses from injuries, whereas losses from deaths result in $465 to $720 million losses in stock market capitalization (Corbet et al. 2020). These findings highlight the equity market's function as a catalyst for improved adherence to industry best practices and safety and health regulations (Corbet et al. 2020). These are of great significance and will be discussed in detail in the main research paper. This factor too shall be expanded on based on case examples in the proposed study.
Apart from the other two factors the issue of digital information and technology plays a very important part in the developments in the share market as well (He et al. 2020). Digital technologies are used as a road map for companies to access data to determine their course of action. This aids in the management of risk and ensures greater market performance in the share market due to its superior performance in the market (Mironkina et al. 2020). These technologies and their means of use will also be elaborated on in detail in the proposed research.
Since trustworthy sources for the study cannot be located, there is a specific gap in the literature. There hasn't been any specific research done on this study since the research issue is connected to knowledge and the influence of industry on the share market. Finding appropriate, peer-reviewed materials was challenging for the researcher as a result. The range of data being acquired has also been further constrained by the usage of just publically accessible data.
Realism is the research methodology used in this research. The fundamental meanings, functions, and other aspects of the stock market will be examined with the aid of realist philosophy through a reality-based analysis of the effects on stock markets caused by societal knowledge and industry.
The Inductive technique has been chosen for this study's purposes because it is appropriate for investigating the effects, functionalities, and operating principles of the Share market. As secondary research was chosen for the study design, this technique places a strong emphasis on the gathering of observations.
Due to the fact that this research is dependent on secondary data, the research methodology used will be a case study. To achieve the research's goals, case studies will be used to analyse the secondary sources (Saunders et al., 2019). It facilitates the systematic collection of data necessary for conducting the investigation.
The ethical guidelines have been maintained in accordance with academic ethics. No information will be acquired in any quantity improperly. Only information that is in the public domain will be taken into account for secondary research. This study will not engage in plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty. Ethical consideration aids in the improvement of research methodology development and uses (Newman et al., 2021).
